Seoul Semiconductor ( www.yahamlighting.com), a world’s leading LED manufacturer has announced that it has supplied Acriche for GU10-based lamps through Poland’s Elgo. Growth is expected to double in 2010 and the product has shown impressive sales in the European market, exceeding expectations since being launched last April.

GU10 lamp bases are one of the most widely used for interior lighting in Europe and is compatible with commercial voltages ranging from 110V to 220V. Currently, the market for GU10 is over 300 million bulbs per year and is worth approximately 1.2 billion dollars globally. GU10 is the predominant lamp-type where halogen bulbs are used for interior lighting sources. Recently, GU10-base lamp products using LED’s, which take advantage of long life and efficiency are in the limelight.

the population on the necessity of LED lighting systems

The best way to lead is by example.” That is why Everlight took the task of completely retrofitting its headquarters with Everlight manufactured 2’ x 2’ LED T5 OL-Deluxe Lighting fixtures.  The first stage of this process began in March, 2008, replacing fluorescent lighting in all production levels of the building.  By the end of the second stage in October, 2008, all 7 floors of the environmentally friendly headquarters were successfully retrofitted with over 1000 units of the Everlight 2’ x 2’ LED T5 OL-Deluxe Lighting fixtures. Not only has this endeavor proved that Solid State Lighting is here but has also publicly demonstrated Everlight LED advantages - sufficient and uniform light output, high CRI of >75%, significant power savings, and virtual obsolescing of replacements and maintenance.

It is a good idea to use LED lighting to replace the traditional CCFL lighting in our office setting. It has improved the lighting environment as well as decreased our power consumption rate,” said Vic Li, an employee of Everlight Headquarters, Taipei, Taiwan.  “Now we are trying our best to educate more of the population on the necessity of LED lighting systems and being a partner of environmental protection. It is those who see a true need and embrace it that truly make a difference. This nanotechnology breakthrough enables us to make LEDs of any color without requiring complex electronic controls, liberating the end-user or designer to dream up many new applications,” stated Clint Ballinger, CEO of Evident Technologies. “The limitations of designing a product around the existing, traditional colored LED are removed.

Applications that could utilize this new product line include signage to make specific brand colors, LCD backlights to increase display color ranges, and high color rendered white LEDs in a wide range of color temperatures. The new products are available in lamp-type or surface mounted LED packages. As the world becomes increasingly mindful of the need to conserve energy, LED use has grown tremendously,” said Dave Duncan, COO Evident Technologies. “Now we are bringing new colors to these efficient light sources.

the eligibility requirements for the competition have been revised

Our latest LED technology positively impacts the sign owner, OEM and distributor by providing compact, long-lasting LEDs for applications that require a lot of light in a limited amount of space,” says Eric Stevenson, global product manager-signage, GE Lumination. "Now, even the shallowest channel letters can pack a huge visual punch. The Tetra miniMAX’s unique design features OptiLens?, a patent-pending optical lens that captures otherwise wasted light and redirects it toward the illuminated surface in a broad, 155-degree pattern. By harnessing the light, the OptiLens technology helps the Tetra miniMAX LED system efficiently deliver bright, uniform light throughout the sign.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has recently released revised L Prize competition requirements. As the first government-sponsored technology competition, the L Prize is designed to accelerate development of high-quality, high-efficiency solid-state lighting products to replace the common light bulb. The competition will award significant cash prizes, plus opportunities for federal purchasing agreements, utility programs, and other incentives for winning products. The three revisions concern eligibility requirements and changes to correlated color temperature and PAR 38 minimum center beam candle power requirements.Revision to the eligibility requirements. As a result of industry/stakeholder feedback, current state-of-the-art of SSL technology, and lessons learned through practice of SSL products, the eligibility requirements for the competition have been revised. The change reflects current approaches available on the market and allows for greater participation in the L Prize competition.

LSI has been selected by a major petroleum/convenience store retailer to upgrade and re-image its canopy lighting, site lights, and security lighting on a nationwide basis utilizing LSI's recently introduced solid-state LED Crossover(r) lighting fixtures. In addition, LSI's graphics division will retrofit exterior fasciac graphics lighting using LED technology for the convenience stores as well as have responsibility for project management and installation activities.

operators can be assured that wireless signals are always received reliably

As a full-featured battery-powered LED moving head and color-wash brick, the Event MH W System and Event Brick System are truly revolutionary fixtures,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “They offers all the advanced features of a high-power LED RGB color-mixing intelligent moving head and brick wash respectively, yet they’re totally portable and don’t require any electrical connection. They don’t require DMX cables either, because they’ve each got a built-in wireless DMX receiver.

“Just as their names indicate, the Event System and Event Brick System are the perfect solution for lighting events of all kinds,” Loader added. “They’re totally self-contained, so they can be taken to any locale or venue without worrying about electrical outlets, cords and cables.”

The fixtures’ wireless DMX receiver can receive DMX signals wirelessly from up to 3,000 feet. Based on technology from world-renowned Wireless Solution Sweden AB, the receiver will work with Elation’s EWDMXT wireless DMX transmitter (sold separately) or other wireless DMX transmitters made by Wireless Solution. It utilizes advanced Adaptive Frequency Hopping Technology, which changes frequencies 1000 times per second to stay on channels that are not in use, so operators can be assured that wireless signals are always received reliably and without interruption.
