In a reexamination of U.S. Patent No. 6,711,426, the Patent Office has affirmed that Spectros' use of White LEDs in medical spectroscopy is unique and protectable, and that certain other applications in biomedical and industrial spectroscopy devices also fall under this Spectros patent. The core Spectros white LED patent will reissue next year.

According to CEO David Benaron, "This is a broad affirmation of our dominant I.P. in the white led high bay light and broadband spectroscopy area. This will serve as the basis for our expansion into lab-on-chip devices, color sensors, spectrometers, fluorimeters, and white LED pulse and tissue oximeters."

It’s reported that Rubicon has the capability to produce polished sapphire wafers up to twelve inches in diameter.Earlier in 2010, Rubicon has announced that it signed a $71 million agreement with a major LED chip manufacturer for which Rubicon will provide six-inch polished substrates.

According to a statement from African Standard Bank, it has bought 700,000 UN-backed carbon credits to fund a clean energy project to replace kerosene lamps with LED lamps in 31-million Tanzanian homes.The project, owned by led high bay light, will save the nation around $200 million (about Sh280 billion). And it will reduce Tanzania’s greenhouse gas emissions by 800,000 tonnes.

There would be more LED players entering the new top-five

TSMC noted, Royal Philips Electronics, Osram, Cree, Nichia and Toyoda Gosei were the top-five LED players in the world. And their top-five led high bay light was expected to change as the LED lighting market was developing. There would be more LED players entering the new top-five.

TSMC's LED R&D center would be completed at the end of 2010 and start mass production in the first half of 2011. TSMC would use silicon, without using sapphire substrate. The company, through a vertical integrated system, would focus on the cost advantages of mass production scales, producing own-brand LED light sources and light engine products and produce LED lighting products.

TSMC additional remarked, with the high price, LED-backlit TV market was expected to have a lower share compared to LCD TV backlighting in 2010 by most players. But LED-backlit TV market share would be able to reach 40% when its prices dropped significantly. So LED players actively expanded their MOCVD sets and developed LED-backlit TV.

However, players did not expect the usage of LED Linear high bay light to be reduced through design, resulting in reductions in LED chips. Once LED capacity exceeds demand, the LED lighting market would become the most important growth for LED players.
