It is different from other LED color controllers

Energy efficient and near maintenance-free LED lighting is ideal for the 7/24 operations of gas stations and convenience stores,” said Andy Strickland, Cree vice president, petroleum lighting. “Cree’s LED products offer the Beaverton Chevron early payback and financial savings over their lifetime – they are the best choice for c-stores and gas stations.”

San Francisco based LED company Elemental LED, has launched its new Reignbow LED Color Selector, to expand the uses for color-changing LED lights. The Reignbow LED Color Selector is a dual-slide dimmer and color picker. The slider on the left allows the user to dim RGB LED lights; the dimmer on the right allows the user to choose one color of light to display.

The Reignbow fits into any standard light switch wall outlet. It is different from other LED color controllers in that instead of allowing the user to choose a color-changing pattern for RGB LED lights, it allows the user to select one static color at a time.

The Reignbow is perfect for customers who want colorful LED lighting, instead of color-changing LED lighting. The color picker moves through all colors in the spectrum, and the PWM dimmer allows for simultaneous 0-100% dimming.

LED panels that are usually used in commercial ceiling fixtures

Amongst the latest cars and stars at this year’s Autosport International, a UK engineering company is shedding some light on the kind of innovations that could help the motorsport industry tackle the challenge of its environmental impact.

Working in conjunction with LED specialists OCG Lighting, this weekend Showtrax International will unveil a prototype powerhood fitted with LED panels that are usually used in commercial ceiling fixtures.A world-leading supplier of pit lane equipment, Showtrax have been commissioned to design and build powerhoods for a number of motor racing teams, including Formula 1 teams.

Powerhoods are suspended above the race car in the garage or awning and provide illumination, as well as electrical power and pneumatic air outlets. Fluorescent tubes are traditionally used as the primary source of light but these were prone to failure due to transport vibrations.“We were finding that by the time we unpacked the powerhoods after transit several of the tubes failed to start and had to be changed”, explained Showtrax Managing Director Andy Britnell. “Sending out replacement tubes was a costly solution so we looked at alternative technologies.”

LED technology is a great leap forward in energy-efficient lighting for our customers

Originally modeled after the Department of Energy’s (DOE) ENERGY STAR? program for solid-state lighting products, the QPL covers categories that ENERGY STAR doesn’t include in its program. Each of the products listed on the QPL must be a high-performing commercial LED product and must meet the DLC's minimum performance requirements. The program requires a third-party independent evaluation from product test reports by accredited labs as evidence of performance, including efficacy and color with LM-79 reports and lumen lifetime with luminaire operating temperature and LM-80 reports.

Without a comprehensive plan for evaluating commercial LED products in the absence of a national standard, DesignLights? Consortium Qualified Product List can be an invaluable resource for energy efficiency commercial programs. "LED technology is a great leap forward in energy-efficient lighting for our customers, and the DesignLights Consortium plays an important role in advancing market transformation," said Weiner.

“Cooper Lighting is committed to supporting energy efficiency programs that improve our economy and the environment,” said Mark Eubanks, President, Cooper Lighting. “The DesignLights Consortium Qualified Products List saves time and brings confidence to lighting specifiers and property owners that they are selecting high-performing, energy-efficient, reliable products eligible for participating incentive programs across the United States, Canada and other countries.”

When these incandescent bulbs get phased out in the next year

The demonstration project is intended to test the lights’ performance in windy and low-light conditions. “We’re not really worried about the panels charging,” said ODOT project manager Paul Christiansen. “We think that will be fine.” The real concern is how the lights will hold up in led linear lighting winds. The original lights have yet to be removed. “I’ve heard the plan is to remove the electrical system when we’re sure the solar-powered [system] will work,” Christiansen said.

According to Electrician Steve Benz, they are putting on an energy efficient clinic just educating the customers on the benefits of fluorescent to incandescent and the new products, LED. Fluorescent and LED bulbs can last anywhere from 10 to 40 years. That's much longer than the average 6 months with the old incandescent bulbs. “When these incandescent bulbs get phased out in the next year or so we're going to see the prices down as far as LED and fluorescent," said Benz. Lighting experts say you have until 2014 until its lights out for incandescent bulbs.

In his opinion, 100 watt incandescent light bulbs will no longer be sold in August, and all sales of incandescent bulbs will be phased out gradually. However, he says it's been a hard transition trying to get people to see the light and try the new bulbs.

But people had many of their questions cleared up about fluorescents and LEDs when they took advantage of the free information booth this Saturday. The energy efficient clinics will continue each Saturday in January at 10 am.And as they spread the word, electricians say they hope bulb by bulb people will start shining the way to a more energy efficient future.

Delivery of the new reactor will take place in the fourth quarter of 2011

Underlying—and enhancing—the rill's aesthetics, Lighting Science Group's LED bulbs beautifully highlight the trees without costing the Dallas Arboretum unnecessary electricity and maintenance expenses.Implemented by Unique Lighting of Texas, Beck Construction, and Rowland Jackson Landscape Architects, the LED system consumes only 1830 total watts; a figure led high bay light closely matched by any average 1800 watt hairdryer and dwarfed by the 21,350 watts figure required by a mercury vapor lamp substitute. Not only energy efficient, but also eco-conscience, Lighting Science Group ensures that all of its product parts are sourced sustainably throughout the supply chain and at the end of a product lifecycle, remain entirely recyclable.

"Lighting Science Group's LED bulbs will enable thousands of Dallas area residents, students, and visitors to see the gardens and the Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Rill, specifically in a whole new light. Our products not only augment the natural beauty of the grounds themselves, but promote an appreciation for the applications of environmentally-friendly and energy efficient design," said Jim Haworth, chairman and chief executive officer of Lighting Science Group.

LumiGrow, Inc., the leader in smart horticultural lighting, enables commercial growers and agribusinesses to reduce energy costs, achieve operational efficiencies and improve crop yield. LumiGrow offers a range of third-party proven solutions for use in greenhouses, controlled environment agriculture and scientific research chambers.Additionally, the LED lighting manufacturer projects that this energy savings will translate into $5,666 in electrical bill savings, based on Rocky Mountain Power's current rate of 4.2 cents per kilowatt-hour and not adjusted for possible rate increases, over the LED lights' 10-year lifespan.

The order came in the third quarter of 2011, initially for the CRIUS II-L version, and was immediately converted into Aixtron′s brand new XL-configuration right after its launch. Delivery of the new reactor will take place in the fourth quarter of 2011.

this means that the lights will not need replacing for nine years

The new installation not only achieves high colour rendering of 80CRI with 4500 kelvin – the optimal colour for displaying led high bay light produce – but has cut lighting energy costs and Co2 production by 65%.

MHA Lighting Managing Director Tom Harrison said: “Our installation has provided Tout’s Budgens at Cheddar with energy savings of £89,539 over the product’s lifetime.

“Equally importantly we have managed to save 567 Co2 tonnes.“The lighting system is also extremely low maintenance and will run for 60,000 hours of continuous use.”

In the case of Tout’s Budgens at Cheddar - with an 18 hour a day operation - this means that the lights will not need replacing for nine years and will save an added £12,880 on routine maintenance.

The lack of heat given off by LED lighting allows further energy savings to be made through reduced use of air conditioning systems. The machines do not have to work as hard to cool down additional heat in the shop, which is beneficial for open refrigerators.
