China’s six government agencies including NDRC, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly announced a “LED energy saving industry plan” in early 2013. The Larson Electronics LED mobile light tower combines power and efficiency into a durable lighting system capable of providing large scale illumination for extended periods. The entire self-contained system is mounted on a two wheel trailer featuring a 2,000 lbs axle and standard 2 inch ball style coupling with dual safety chains. Two sleeves mounted to the outer section of the mast assembly allow operators to use a forklift to load and unload the entire unit onto flatbed trailers and trucks if needed. Power is provided by a Kubota water cooled diesel engine turning a 6,000 watt, 120/240 VAC generator.


This system includes key operated electric starting, water cooling, twelve volt electrical system, low oil pressure and high temperature shutoffs, and a 30 gallon fuel tank. The lighting assembly features a folding extendable mast constructed from galvanized steel which can be elevated to heights up to 30 feet using two included self braking hand winches. The lighting assembly consists of four 300 watt LED lights producing a total of 118,320 lumens of led high bay light. This combination of LED lighting technology and diesel powered operation makes this a very efficient and powerful tower lighting system capable of illuminating 4 to 6 acres with brilliant white light for up to 60 hours on a single tank of fuel.

With the increasingly strong demand in lighting

Following international lighting giants Philips, OSRAM, and GE shift towards LED lighting, local manufacturers from various countries followed suit. CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets most recent report showed a good outlook for LED lighting market development in 2014 and believes that led high bay light demands will be the driver for LED manufacturing capital expenditures in 2014. They predict that global numbers for new MOCVD units in 2014 will increase compared to 2013, reaching an estimated 390 units.

According to the content in CLSA’s report, Epistar, Formosa Epitaxy, San’an, CREE, OSRAM, and other LED manufacturers in 2014 will all experience a rise in production capacity demands. CLSA predicts that the capital expenditure cycle in 2014 will restart. MOCVD units are expected to increase from 200 units in 2013 to 390 units in 2014, an increase in growth of 95 percent.

The RGB LED bulbs share similar features to the led high bay light, as it can be color tuned via a smartphone or tablet Bluetooth, and works on both Apple and Android systems. With 51 days to go for their fundraising campaign, ilumi has received backing from 180 supporters, with funds totaling US$ 17,325 as of date.

According to ilumi’s press release, ilumi uniquely offers wireless meshing using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which provides full systematic lighting control with simple set up and ease of use. With BLE, ilumi eliminates reliance on Wi-Fi networks and bridges, and hefty installation costs, making the bulb suitable for home and commercial establishments such as restaurants, bars, clubs and theatrical applications.
