Energy efficient and near maintenance-free LED lighting is ideal for the 7/24 operations of gas stations and convenience stores,” said Andy Strickland, Cree vice president, petroleum lighting. “Cree’s LED products offer the Beaverton Chevron early payback and financial savings over their lifetime – they are the best choice for c-stores and gas stations.”
San Francisco based LED company Elemental LED, has launched its new Reignbow LED Color Selector, to expand the uses for color-changing LED lights. The Reignbow LED Color Selector is a dual-slide dimmer and color picker. The slider on the left allows the user to dim RGB LED lights; the dimmer on the right allows the user to choose one color of light to display.
The Reignbow fits into any standard light switch wall outlet. It is different from other LED color controllers in that instead of allowing the user to choose a color-changing pattern for RGB LED lights, it allows the user to select one static color at a time.
The Reignbow is perfect for customers who want colorful LED lighting, instead of color-changing LED lighting. The color picker moves through all colors in the spectrum, and the PWM dimmer allows for simultaneous 0-100% dimming.

the first carbon neutral airport company in the Southern Hemisphere
Christchurch Airport is the first airport in New Zealand to convert to the latest smart and energy-efficient lighting technology in its terminal, in line with it being the first carbon neutral airport company in the Southern Hemisphere, and the second worldwide.
Philips Lighting and Christchurch International Airport Ltd (CIAL) with assistance from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), is replacing 1,700 light fittings in the terminal with LED technology, providing high quality inviting lighting that not only stacks up aesthetically, but also delivers major energy savings.
LED lighting is up to 80% more efficient than traditional incandescent lighting, so Christchurch Airport will reduce its annual lighting load by more than 60% when the new LED and energy-efficient lighting is installed. As well as saving 70 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, the reduction in energy use will have significant benefits for the bottom line.

We appreciate the strong support from Veeco
President of Epistar, commented, “We are pleased to choose Veeco’s K465i as our GaN-on-Si development tool. We are excited about the potential of GaN-on-Si technology as we move to larger wafer sizes. We appreciate the strong support from Veeco, and look forward to this collaboration.”
William J. Miller, Ph.D., Veeco’s Executive Vice President, Process Equipment, commented, “We are very pleased that Epistar has chosen the K465i, which provides low cost-of-ownership and production worthiness, for its GaN-on-Si LED development. Large diameter Si wafers offer tremendous promise as a low cost alternative to sapphire for volume production of lower cost LEDs.”
We are pleased to have chosen the TurboDisc K465i MOCVD System as our first GaN-on-Si production system. It offers unparalleled throughput advantages, and its TurboDisc technology provides superior uniformity and low particle count, which is critical for producing GaN-on-Si wafers. We appreciate the strong support we have received from Veeco, and look forward to this and future collaborations.”
William J. Miller, Ph.D., Veeco’s Executive Vice President, Process Equipment, commented, “We are gratified that LG Siltron has chosen the K465i, which provides low cost-of-ownership and best-in-class yields, and look forward to supporting LG Siltron as they ramp production. The market for GaN-on-Si power devices continues to grow, and the K465i offers many advantages, such as improved device performance, lower manufacturing costs and increased productivity.”

the freedom to create uncompromised yet energy efficient lighting experiences
LED Engin’s latest multi-color (RGBW) emitters will also be on show. These achieve superior in-source color mixing, particularly in narrow-spot beams of less than 10°. Recently introduced 8° and 15° lenses, combined with LuxiGen multi-color emitters, open up new applications within the stage and studio and architectural markets where high intensity, focused, colored light for distance lighting is required. In combination with secondary optics, these emitters deliver dynamic color entertainment with sufficient "throw" and precision control, without compromising lux-on-target.
LED Engin, based in California’s Silicon Valley, specializes in ultra-bright, ultra-compact solid state lighting solutions that allow designers and engineers the freedom to create uncompromised yet energy efficient lighting experiences. Their LuxiGen? Platform – an emitter and lens combination or integration module solution, delivers superior flexibility in light output, ranging from 3W to 90W, a wide spectrum of available colors, including whites, multi-color and UV, and the ability to deliver upwards of 5,000 high quality lumens to a target. The small size combined with powerful output allows for a previously unobtainable freedom of design wherever high flux density, directional light is required.
NeoBulb Escort ATEX lighting fixtures bring all of the benefits of high quality LED lighting – long, maintenance-free life, excellent efficiency and incredible durability – to heavy industry applications.

LED panels that are usually used in commercial ceiling fixtures
Amongst the latest cars and stars at this year’s Autosport International, a UK engineering company is shedding some light on the kind of innovations that could help the motorsport industry tackle the challenge of its environmental impact.
Working in conjunction with LED specialists OCG Lighting, this weekend Showtrax International will unveil a prototype powerhood fitted with LED panels that are usually used in commercial ceiling fixtures.A world-leading supplier of pit lane equipment, Showtrax have been commissioned to design and build powerhoods for a number of motor racing teams, including Formula 1 teams.
Powerhoods are suspended above the race car in the garage or awning and provide illumination, as well as electrical power and pneumatic air outlets. Fluorescent tubes are traditionally used as the primary source of light but these were prone to failure due to transport vibrations.“We were finding that by the time we unpacked the powerhoods after transit several of the tubes failed to start and had to be changed”, explained Showtrax Managing Director Andy Britnell. “Sending out replacement tubes was a costly solution so we looked at alternative technologies.”

LED technology is a great leap forward in energy-efficient lighting for our customers
Originally modeled after the Department of Energy’s (DOE) ENERGY STAR? program for solid-state lighting products, the QPL covers categories that ENERGY STAR doesn’t include in its program. Each of the products listed on the QPL must be a high-performing commercial LED product and must meet the DLC's minimum performance requirements. The program requires a third-party independent evaluation from product test reports by accredited labs as evidence of performance, including efficacy and color with LM-79 reports and lumen lifetime with luminaire operating temperature and LM-80 reports.
Without a comprehensive plan for evaluating commercial LED products in the absence of a national standard, DesignLights? Consortium Qualified Product List can be an invaluable resource for energy efficiency commercial programs. "LED technology is a great leap forward in energy-efficient lighting for our customers, and the DesignLights Consortium plays an important role in advancing market transformation," said Weiner.
“Cooper Lighting is committed to supporting energy efficiency programs that improve our economy and the environment,” said Mark Eubanks, President, Cooper Lighting. “The DesignLights Consortium Qualified Products List saves time and brings confidence to lighting specifiers and property owners that they are selecting high-performing, energy-efficient, reliable products eligible for participating incentive programs across the United States, Canada and other countries.”
