The Ventus LED Area Luminaire is optimized to deliver energy-conscious illumination to parking lots

The awards have been made shortly after the DOE published the latest version of its technology roadmap for solid-state lighting. The updated document calls for LED lighting to reach a cost of just $2.20 per kilolumen by 2015 and led high bay light kilolumen by 2020. That compares with the estimated 2010 figure of $18 per kilolumen, suggesting a similar magnitude of cost reduction indicated by Lumileds.

Cooper Lighting’s two products, the McGraw-Edison Ventus? LED Area Luminaire and the Metalux OpticaHP High Performance Parabolic Series, have been chosen as 2010 Product of the Year winners in the Lighting category by Plant Engineering.

The McGraw-Edison Ventus LED Area Luminaire took the Silver award, and the Metalux Optica HP High Performance Parabolic Series took the Bronze award.

Utilizing patent-pending modular LightBAR technology, the McGraw-Edison Ventus LED Area Luminaire is able to deliver application-specific uniform illumination, eliminating wasted energy and obtrusive led linear high bay light. The Ventus LED Area Luminaire is optimized to deliver energy-conscious illumination to parking lots, building areas, roadways, and security lighting applications, and can provide up to 75 percent in energy savings over traditional high intensity discharge outdoor sources.
